Beauty comes in many forms

This morning my devotional was about the beauty that God has put all around us to remind of His glory and love.

So many times we rush through life and don’t notice the beauty that surrounds us and I realized that though I have had more time in the past six months than I have in years, I still tend to get so involved in what’s going on that I miss the beauty.  So, I decided to stop and notice.

As I went through the shots I took this week I realized beauty comes in all forms, from an awesome sunset, to the young bud of a rose, to little feathered friends, the formations created by ice as it freezes, and even the perfect bubble of air in an ice-cube.

And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” ~ Isaiah 6:3

“the whole earth is full of His glory”, as I contemplate that thought, things like a smile, laughter, the sound of rain and rolling thunder, the smell of lavender, the taste of chocolate, hugs and kisses, friendship, and many more come to mind.  We are surrounded by beauty.

Have you noticed the beauty around you?

Full Moon

The other night as the moon was rising I tried to get some pics of the orange color from the sunset with it.

The  full moon is just a beautiful sight to me.

These pictures aren’t the best but the moon was truly beautiful that night.

A full moon lights up the night so that the clouds, mountains and open fields are highlighted.

The full moon inspires stories  in everything from Christmas to romance, comedy, and horror.

Have you ever noticed children and adults are more “energetic” when there’s a full moon?

There’s just something about the full moon…

Take the time…

My mom called me on her way home this evening and told me to go out and look at the clouds and how they were beautifully highlighted by the sun.  So while I was on the phone with her, I grabbed my camera and went out to the driveway and looked to the west.  Crouching down I could see through the field across from my house a few clouds.  They were highlighted by the sun.  I guess you could say they were silver lined.

Then looking up as I  walked back toward the house I caught sight of the moon in the sky.

There’s beauty all around us, if you just take the time to notice.

Blessings

It’s here!

FedEx rolled up to my house yesterday and I received a package for being one of the top ten winners of AccuQuilt’s 2016 Quilt Block Design contest.  I was pleasantly surprised by what I found.

That was one of the blessings I’ve had this week.

The most special blessing was yesterday afternoon.  We went to see my dad in the hospital.  He talked and carried on conversation the whole time we were there (about 2 hours).    My dad has been through a lot in the past year and I haven’t heard him carry on a conversation, putting full sentences together, in a very long time.  In so long a time, that his Floridian accent really stood out to me.

There are blessing all around and I try to notice them as I see them.  Earlier in the week I took a few pictures of the tiger lilies that have bloomed and a couple of birds. I consider little things like these blessing too.  I showed these to my dad during my visit.

Another time in the week, my husband pulled out this old wind chime, as I was changing out my decorations from Spring to Patriotic.  I am going to re-string the chimes, as they have gotten all tangled up and I can’t untangle them.  I am also going to repaint it.  I hope to have it done soon.

Our freedom is another blessing and I like to have my home decked out in patriotic colors from Memorial day through Labor day.  Here are some of the decorations I have.

donut
Then this morning I started the day out with a simple glazed donut.  That sweet bit of fried confection was a blessing to my taste buds, but not so much to my hips.

There seems to be a holiday for almost everything and National Donut Day is one I like to participate in.

Blessings… sometimes they come as something small and simple and at other times something way beyond our wildest dreams.

A nice way to start the day

This morning I looked out my sewing room window and saw my first iris bloom of the year.  I went outside and took a picture of it and two other bloomers.

It was over clouded this morning with a cool breeze and the bloomer flowers brightened it up.
A nice way to start the day.

Pretty colors…

It has been rainy for most of the day, but it was a good sign after the fires that were going on yesterday.
When we left Paris yesterday, there was smoke everywhere.  It looked like it started south of town and I wondered if it was on the mountain.   We drove out of the smoky area by the time we were in Charleston.   A few hours later, Fort Smith was filled with smoke.   I caught this picture on our way out of Fort Smith heading back home.  The sunset clouds through the smokey haze.

I saw where this smoke started from, it was south of Charleston.

By the time we were back in Paris, most of the smoke had cleared, though the mountain still had a smokey haze hovering.

With it being rainy today, I guess you could say I was a little lazy.  I didn’t worry about much make up, just put on some mascara and a little lipstick and took a selfie showing my new haircut.  I lost about three inches in length.  As you can see, I’m in my favorite room of the house, my sewing room.

After that I took a picture of this partial pieced quilt top.  I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with it.  This is another pieced item I acquired from someone else in years past.

It has a lot of pretty colors but isn’t very big,  So, I will most likely square it off and add a few borders to give it a little more size.

That gets me caught up, I think.  🙂

Wishing you a great day!

Unsettled… settled

Have you ever had one of those days where you felt unsettled?

That’s how my day was.

I finally settled down and decided what to do.  I’m caught up on any quilting projects I had, so I decided to do a watercolor.  Actually the watercolor idea came to me this morning, I just wasn’t sure what to do.

Because of it being Easter weekend, it finally came to me earlier this evening.  So, I did a sketch.  I will start with the watercolors tomorrow.

Hugs,
Sonia
