Chopped Off…

After another long week, last week, it was nice to find out the day I requested to take off next month was approved.  It is my last personal day off with pay for the year.  It was getting to the point of either use it or lose it.  So I am going to use it.  That is something to look forward to, in addition to the paid holidays coming up.

I’m thinking of starting a block of the month or a mystery quilt to share on my blog, but I need to do some research before I dive into it.  I hope to be able to post it each month for others to participate in and show off their finished quilts when we are done.   I have thought this might be a good project for the guild I attend too, but again, I need to research it all before I present it.

I’m letting my hair grow out again.  It got to the point it was beginning to bother me and one day I got up from a nap and when I looked in the mirror, I pulled my bangs down and chopped off about 2 inches.   So last week, I went to the beautician and asked her to trim it up, straighten it up and thin it out.  It was getting pretty unruly, so she cut in a lot of layers like a shag haircut.  I’m happy with it, I can usually just blow it out, after washing it, and run a comb through it and it looks fixed.

Last night we had three baptisms at church and I saw a friend I worked with for 20+ years.  It was good to see her.  I haven’t seen very many people I worked with at my previous job since I started working in another town.   Then today, in two different stores, I saw three more people I either use to work with or had connection with through my last job.  Then this evening, at two different stores, I saw family members I haven’t seen in a few months.   Truly a blessing.

As my family and I were on the road this evening, David was driving, and I was able to take a pic or two.

I got this picture of this old house as we drove by.  I honestly didn’t know if it would turn out as we were picking up speed as we went by, and I was turned towards the back of the car with my window rolled down trying to get a picture.  I think it turned out pretty good though.

I’ve updated the following tabs today.

  • My Walk
  • What Is It?
    • last week’s may have been unfair as it was of something we don’t see very often, and hopefully this week’s pic will be easier.

I saw some beautiful fall color today.  As I was driving back to work on my lunch break I saw a tree with a little green, but mostly red, orange and yellow.  The sun was shining on it just right and the colors popped.  🙂

I hope to get some pretty picture of the color change soon.

I’ve updated the following tabs.  Check them out.  🙂

  • Crochet, Etc.
  • Giveaways
  • What is it?

Until next time,
Have a great day!

Set backs and Progress

Today I stayed home from church.  I started feeling bad Friday night and things weren’t any better this morning.  So, I had church with 1st Baptist Rogers on t.v. this morning.  It was a good message on how with Jesus Christ you can become new.  They showed a video that I really liked.  I’ve shared it on the “My Walk” tab.

It seems of late, things happen that keep me from my family and my church family.  Things like being physically sick, or having to work long hours.  It’s like I’m sinking and am having trouble coming up for air.

While I was laying on the couch this morning, trying to get warm under a throw, my tabby came to lay down close by.  He covered his eyes with his paw and proceeded to fall asleep.

A blog or two back I mentioned a Christmas stocking I had started.  I’ve made progress and hope to have a finished product by the end of the week.
So until next time,
Have a great week!

….  Don’t forget to check out the video on the “My Walk” tab.  🙂

Scarecrows watching…

It was cool day today, according to my standards.  :0)

I stepped out earlier today and took a pic of some leaves that are beginning to change.
This is my favorite time of year.  I have decorated a bit for the season.  In the living room I decked out the piano.
Then, in my sewing room the scarecrows are keeping watch.

It won’t be long and we will be getting ready for Christmas.  Since I have finally finished the log cabin quilt, I have time to work on other projects.  I’m happy to say I have finished a small quilt that has been on my heart for some time.  The lime quilt however, is still waiting for me to finish it up.  The top is done, I just need to add batting, a backing, and I’ve decided to tie it.  So that will happen in the next week or so (I hope).
Right now, I’m working on a Christmas stocking, for the guild’s Christmas party this year.  We are going to exchange stockings.
Here’s what I’ve got going on.  It is being made out of felt.  I will line it with cotton or flannel fabric after I applique the trees and the snow man on the front.
I’m going to decorate the trees, the snowman and stocking with snowflakes and beads. I think it is going to turn out cute.
I have updated the “What Is It” page.  Check it out.
Have a great rest of the weekend!
